A couple decides to go for a meal and after some deliberation settles on their local Chinese restaurant. They agree to share the chef’s special, Chicken Surprise.
The waiter brings over the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot. Just as the wife is ready to start in on the meal, the lid of the pot rises by a couple of inches, and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down.
“Good grief, did you see that?!?” she exclaims. She asks her husband to look in the pot and see what’s going on. As he reaches for it, the lid rises again, and he also sees the beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams down.
Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over. He explains what’s been happening and demands an explanation.
“Well, sir,” says the waiter, “What did you order?”
“We decided to share the Chicken Surprise,” the man replies.
“Oh, this is my fault, and I do apologize,” says the waiter as the eyes peer out from under the lid once more. “I’ve brought you the Peking Duck by mistake.”
