A Bright Idea in the Office
I urgently needed a few days off work, but I knew the boss wouldn’t let me go. I thought that maybe if I acted like I’d gone a touch crazy, he might have some sympathy and send me home. So, I hung upside down from the ceiling and grinned my biggest grin.
My co-worker (who’s also under a lot of stress) asked me what I was doing.
I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulb, so the boss would think I was nuts and give me a few days off.
A few minutes later, the boss came into the office, looked up at me in astonishment and asked, “What in the world do you think you’re doing?”
I told him I was a light bulb.
He said, “You are clearly stressed out. Go home and recuperate for a couple of days.”
I jumped down and walked out of the office.
When my co-worker followed me, the boss asked her, “And just where do you think you’re going?”
“I figured I’d go home, too,” she answered. “I mean, you don’t expect me to work in the dark, do you?”
