An Impressive Phone Conversation

A young man, fresh out of business school, was starting with a big firm. He was getting settled in at his new office when he noticed an attractive woman coming toward his door. Wanting to impress her, the young man picked up his phone and talked into it as though he had a big deal working. He threw huge figures around and made giant commitments while his visitor stood in the doorway. Finally, he hung up and asked the woman, “Can I help you?”

The woman smiled and walked over to his desk. “Actually, I think you can,” she said.

The young man’s heart skipped a beat as he rose to meet her. “Whatever you need, I’ll certainly do my best, miss…?”

“Call me Wanda,” the woman replied. “And what I’d like you to do is take two steps back so I can come around and hook up your phone.”
