Microsoft Minesweeper, the logic puzzle game that's been a part of Windows for decades, has been reinvented with better graphics and sound. Use the number clues to find all of the hidden mines without blowing up! Play on easy (9X9 grid), medium (16x16 grid), or hard/expert (1000x1000 grid... just kidding, it's 30x16). The game uses the same controls you know and love, so start sweeping!
Instructions
The game starts with an empty grid. Click any space to begin (don't worry - your first click is always safe unless you're replaying a grid). After your first click, a bunch of numbers will be revealed. These numbers indicate how many mines are touching that space. So, for example, if you see a number 1, then you know that only one mine will be touching that square.
When you think you know which space has a hidden mine, right-click it once to place a flag there. If you're not sure, you can right-click twice to place a question mark on that space. If you can guess all of the spaces correctly or uncover all "safe" spaces, you win!
PLEASE NOTE: If the Microsoft Minesweeper game doesn't start, turn off your ad blocker and reload the page.
Tips and Tricks
Always start by marking the obvious mines. For instance, if you see a number 1 with only one uncovered mine touching that square, you know that's the mine. If you already have all the mines marked near a given number and there are remaining uncovered spaces nearby, you can save time by clicking the left and right mouse buttons on top of that numbered space. Sometimes you'll end up having no way to guess which space hides the mine. If that happens, try clicking in an area where there are a bunch of uncovered spaces. You might luck out and open up some new territory that helps you solve the board.
Microsoft Minesweeper Review
I've always liked Microsoft Minesweeper, ever since it first came out. I actually got pretty good at it, but as with most things that go unused, my skills atrophied. Now that this one's out, I might just get back into it and beef up my logic skills again. Or maybe try some other logic games like Swipe a Car.
